Italian to English Translation

Translation is an interpretative act that blends creativity and fidelity. Translation of texts that will be read by an anglophone audience requires not only competence in translating from Italian to English, but also the ability to understand the source text so that the author’s intent is not lost on the reader. Never a form of tautology or strict lexical equivalence, where one code is mechanically replaced by another code, a great translation should read and feel like an original text to convey the desired meaning across different cultures. For best results, have your texts translated if English is not your first language.

ESL Editing—English Language Editing for Non-native English Speakers

For ESL authors with excellent English skills. Language editing aims to ensure that grammar, register and style are correct and appropriate for the intended purpose and readership, addressing language use at the sentence and paragraph level and correcting non-idiomatic English to deliver flawless, polished texts.

Please be aware that this service is only available for reasonably well-written texts. It should not be viewed as a quick fix for poor-quality texts or texts that have been run through online “translation” engines—which invariably tend to require extensive, time-consuming and hence expensive revisions.

Copyediting ensures that your text is correct in terms of grammar, punctuation, spelling and capitalization, along with addressing awkward syntax and inconsistencies, and removing repetitions. I will also address formatting issues—ensuring that headers, notes, and reference lists are in line  with the required style guide (Chicago, MLA, APA, etc.).

Proofreading is the last step in the editorial process—the finishing touch on a manuscript ready for publication. I will check your work for spelling, mechanical, and grammatical errors only, as well as making sure there are no missing pages, faulty page breaks, or errors in formatting.
